Pope Paul IV in Ministeria Quaedam suppressed the Minor Orders and created the new ministries of Lector and Acolyte which assumed the functions proper to the old minor order of Subdeacon.

His Excellency Archbishop Gilbert Garcera of Lipa, visited our seminary confer on six seminarians the ministry of Lector and on six previously instituted lectors, the ministry of acolyte.

His Excellency was received by the Provincial Superior and all the priests and members of the Houses of Formation with the liturgical Reception of the Archbishop.

This was followed by the celebration of the Holy Mass, during which the ministries of lector and acolyte were conferred. In his homily, His Excellency spoke about the duty of the new lectors and acolytes which must extend beyond the bounds of the chapel walls and into the community. His Excellency also recounted the many works of apostolate which the Institute is carrying out in our neighbourhood and in the various barangay chapels and other mission places assigned to us where houses are visited, children taught catechism and other works and the Word of God is proclaimed in multifarious ways so that all may come to know the Good News of Our Lord Jesus. He then expressed hope that the new pastoral center, which is nearing completion, with provide greater opportunities for further works of apostolate among the people.

A reception followed where the Archbishop graciously spent time in conversation with the priests and members of our Institute.
