December 27-January 1, 2025, Our Lady of Sheshan Seminary holds the Floral Games 2024.

The celebration of the Ordinary Jubilee 2025 was the theme of the Floral Games. The seminarians were divided into three groups in honor of the famous ancient basilicas in Rome: Saint Peter’s Basilica, Saint Paul’s and the Archbasilica of Saint John Lateran.

The Floral Games is one of the accessory elements in the IVE Houses of Formation it’s a week-long activity which aims to forge in the seminarians’ personal development, the virtues of magnanimity, generosity and love for the authentic facets of classical culture like : language, literary arts, dialogue, comprehension, music, poetry and the art of painting. In Our Lady of Sheshan Seminary, the Floral Games, named after St. Agustine Zhao Rong, are usually held during the Christmas Octave.

The Zhao Rong Floral Games 2024 was officially opened last December 27, 2024, with the Banner and Exposition about the Team’s name. Each theme also prepared a hymn in honor of their patrons.

A soccer and basketball matches were held among the brothers. Saint Paul won the Soccer Game while Saint Peter’s reigned as the champion for the Basketball Cup.There were language competitions which consisted a vocabulary test, translation, reading and comprehension and dialogue in different languages such as Greek, Latin, English, and Spanish. There was also a History Quiz about the Christian Persecution from the 3rd to the 21st Century

Races also were conducted ranging from 100-meter Sprint and 400 Meter relay and an Obstacle Race which tested the brothers team work and physical agility.

There was a Theater Competition, which is an an episode the classical play Hamlet. Saint John Lateran bagged the Awards for the said competition.

On New Year’s Eve while waiting for the clock to strike at midnight, the table games were held which include, chess, card games, croquet. The seminarian’s welcomed the New Year with the great family spirit. The next day, January 1, 2024, the Floral Games concluded with Solo and Choral Singing Competitions. The awarding ceremony was held during the lunch. Special recognition was given on those who aced the cultural events. The team of Saint John Lateran was hailed the winner of the Floral Games 2024.
